Creating Rules in GroupWiseRules in GroupWise make it easy to sort incoming e-mails, make automatic responses for when you are away, or block certain users or domains.Setting up Rules:
Any rule in this list can be either active or inactive depending on whether or not it is checked in the column on the left. To add a new rule, click on New on the Rules window to bring up the New Rule window:
1. Making a Rule: First, create a name for your rule (1). We'll call this one "Work Mail." Then select when your rule will apply. For this rule, we will need to mark all New Items (2) that are Received (3). We only want this to apply to Mail, so we check the Mail (4) box.
The next section is where we add extra conditions to the mail we want to sort. Click Define Conditions (5). This brings up the Define Conditions window.
This window allows you to make specific conditions to apply to your rule. For instance, I would like my Work Mail rule to catch everything from the people I work with, so I use Define Conditions to include every email that has their names in the "From" line. First, click on the drop-down list and select the field of the e-mail that you are searching for the conditional statement.
Secondly, type your condition in the middle entry field of the window. The button between these two fields selects how the rule uses the conditional statements you write. Clicking on it will give you this menu:
The last button either ends your condition or allows you to add another condition for your rule to use.
Selecting End will finish your conditions. You can add another line by selecting either And or Or. If you do, fill out this line with your second condition just like the first one. Our finished definition looks like this:
Now click OK to go back to the New Rule window. The last section defines what to do with the emails we include in our rule. Click Add Action to start an action. Select Move to Folder, and in the next window select where to put the emails that you want to sort. For instance, let's move all the emails we find into one folder, named "Work Related."
We now have our finished rule
Click Save. Your rule shows up on the Rules Window list. NOTE: Click here for an example of a vacation rule in GroupWise. |
